报告一:

Morphodynamics of sinuous tidal streams: advances and challenges

报告人:

Alvise Finotello,意大利帕多瓦大学助理教授

报告人简介:

Alvise Finotello is Assistant Professor at the Department of Geosciences, University of Padova. He received B.S. and M.S. degrees in Civil Hydraulic Engineering in 2010 and 2013, respectively, and a Ph.D. degree in Earth Sciences (cum laude) in 2017 from the University of Padova. In 2015 and 2016, he has been a visiting scientist at the St. Anthony Falls Laboratory, University of Minnesota. Between 2017 and 2021, he held a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Dept. of Geosciences - University of Padova (2017-2018), at the Center for Lagoon Hydrodynamics and Morphodynamics (CIMoLa) - University of Padova (2019), and at the Dept. of Environmental Sciences, Informatics, and Statistics - Ca' Foscari University of Venice (2020-2021).

Combining field surveys, remote sensing analyses, numerical modeling, and physical laboratory experiments, Alvise investigates the morphodynamic evolution of tidal channels and tidal channel networks in tidally-influenced estuarine and fluvio-deltaic environments, as well as the intertwined ecogeomorphological feedbacks between tidal currents, sea-level changes, wind waves, and vegetation dynamics and their effects on the long term evolution of tidal salt-marshes.

In addition, he is also interested in understanding the ecomorphodynamic evolution of meandering rivers, a relevant topic with global implications for stream and wetland restoration, land management, infrastructure design, oil exploration and production, carbon sequestration, flood-risk mitigation, and planetary paleoenvironmental reconstruction.

From Bio-morphodynamics to Eco-morphodynamics: How can we understand and predict species-species interactions

报告人:

Christian Schwarz,比利时鲁汶大学助理教授

报告人简介:

Christian Schwarz obtained his doctorate from Radboud University Nijmegen in 2014 and continued his postdoctoral research work at the University of Antwerp for two years. In 2016, he joined Utrecht University as an assistant professor, and in 2021, he was appointed as an assistant professor at KU Leuven in Belgium. His research focuses on the bio-morphodynamics of mangrove and salt marshes. He has published about 30 high-level academic papers, including Nature Geoscience, Journal of Geophysical Research, Water Resources Research, etc. He was supported by  Future Delta Seed Money ,  MASTS Numerical Hydrodynamics Modelling Forum , etc. He is active in international academic activities and has extensive experience in studying the impact of mangroves on landform.
